Scientific Consultant for BBC’s Natural History Unit

I recently had the pleasure of consulting on my research being presented in the BBC’s Blue Planet II, episode 5, ‘Green Seas’, a segment depicting a utopian underwater paradise – the giant Australian cuttlefish aggregation. This segment tells a story of a small male cuttlefish attempting to win over a female in a sea of larger rival males.

Scientific Consultant for Hakai Magazine

The talented Shanna Baker and Mark Garrison from Hakai magazine produced a graphic novella of my Ph.D. research. ‘Cuttlefish Brawl’ presents an underwater ‘soap opera’ drama, illustrating the enigmatic fighting, cajoling, and mating tactics commonly observed at giant Australian cuttlefish aggregations.

Author of Cephalopod Colouring Book

I am currently collaborating with Dr. Yuna Kim, an ecologist, conservationist, and founder of, to write and illustrate a colouring book for children (+10 years). The book, expected in June 2019, will contain biological and conservation-led content about a range of cephalopod species including octopuses, cuttlefishes, and squids. The project aims to engage children in creative activities to teach them about these colourful molluscs, their interesting biological features, and the importance of conserving them.
