Series Researcher for BBC’s Planet Earth III

Planet Earth III will take the ‘Planet Earth’ experience to new heights. Our team aims to combine the awe and wonder of the original Planet Earth as well as the new science and discoveries of Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II. As a result, we hope to create a state-of-the-art series comprised of character-led animal behaviour stories, with rich narratives, that will take viewers to every corner of the planet, from the highest mountains to the deepest oceans. The ambitious wildlife documentary will air in 2022, marking the 100 year anniversary of the BBC.

Scientific Consultant for BBC’s Blue Planet II

I recently had the pleasure of consulting on my research being presented in the BBC’s Blue Planet II, episode 5, ‘Green Seas’, a segment depicting a utopian underwater paradise – the giant Australian cuttlefish aggregation. This segment tells a story of a small male cuttlefish attempting to win over a female in a sea of larger rival males.

Scientific Consultant for Hakai Magazine

The talented Shanna Baker and Mark Garrison from Hakai magazine produced a graphic novella of my Ph.D. research. ‘Cuttlefish Brawl’ presents an underwater ‘soap opera’ drama, illustrating the enigmatic fighting, cajoling, and mating tactics commonly observed at giant Australian cuttlefish aggregations.
